Lake End Cheeses is a small, family run dairy in the state of Vermont. They produce farmstead cheese from the milk produced on their own farm. Since the beginning of their farming career, back in 1999, they have expanded the herd and are now up to milking five goats and three cows. That doesn't sound like much but the girls produce enough milk to make 75 pounds of cheese each week!

The first cheese they produced were their Misty Cove line. These cheeses are a mild, alpine style cheese with a farmhouse cheddar flavor. One is 100% cows milk and the other is a cow/goat milk blend. Because of this unique style of cheesemaking and milk blending you must sample these cheeses to truly understand the flavor. The other cheeses they produce are James Bay and Harbor Light. James Bay is a semi-soft, full flavor, blended milk cheese, moist in texture, firm in body. Harbor Light is similar in texture and density with a medium sharpness, made with 100% cows milk, it is similar to a munster.

Located at the top of the Lake Champlain Islands, Lakes End Cheeses is a great stop while visiting Vermont. We are easy to find and a fun family, friendly farm. On the farm we have a petting zoo where you can meet our young kids and calves, even feed them a handful of grain. Also, depending on the time of year you visit, you could see our free ranged chickens, pigs and milking cows and goats. All products produced on the farm are available for sale in the small retail shop located right on the farm. The shop is open Memorial Day to Labor Day, seven days a week. You can also watch cheese being made through the glass doors of the cheese room if you come on cheesemaking day.
