Both the New England Dairy & Food Council and the New England Dairy Promotion Board are funded by the dairy farmers of New England and New York. The two companies jointly have approximately 17 employees working in 5 New England states (excluding Maine, which operates its own similar organizations).
Mission Statement:
To strengthen dairy farming by expanding markets and demand for dairy products produced in or for the New England markets.
NEDPB is best known for generic advertising campaigns to sell milk, cheese and yogurt, such as 3-A-Day of Dairy, got milk?® and
Ahh, the power of Cheese themes. Our most current effort is centered around the 3-A-Day logo found on many brands of milk, cheese and yogurt, designed to encourage and educate consumers to eat 3 servings a day of dairy products to foster improved health, as recommended by the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPyramid.gov.
More Company Information:
- NEDPB is not a government agency, it is privately run with a Board of Directors comprised entirely of dairy farmers from across the New England region and New York. However, NEDPB has the authority to collect promotion funds from dairy farmers granted by the Federal Dairy and Tobacco Adjustment Act of 1983.
- By law, our organization is prohibited from conducting political lobbying activities or engaging in direct efforts to formulate public policies through governmental/regulatory agencies at the state or federal level.
Does the Dairy Promotion Board conduct the famous "milk mustache" advertising campaign?
No, that effort is funded and managed by an organization funded by the branded milk companies of our nation, including H.P. Hood, Garelick Farms and other New England-based fluid milk processors. We do work in cooperation with the "milk mustache" campaign whenever practical. For more information, visit www.whymilk.com.
